Whatukura - Wooden Sculpture Mixed Media

Whatukura, is a multimedia art piece that embodies a fusion of both a traditional styled figure with a contemporary expression. This piece is inspired by a side profile view of a wheku.

Whatukura is based around a supernatural male entity serving as a guardian, providing protection, and also creating a connection between the physical and spiritual realms.

This multi-media wood sculpture includes copper, brass, and a steel ball bearing.

Enhanced with earthy acrylic paints native wood and the different metals captures the essence of this stylised figure.
