Te Rū-Au-Moko - 2022

Ruaumoko (Guardian of volcanic eruption/earthquakes) and their descent to his dominion are represented by this piece. The pūhoro symbolizes the unpredictable burst of Ruamoko into the physical world. The two mountains are a representation of the two entrances to the underworld and the realm of Ruaumoko, one for Te Ira Tangata (Human) and one for Te ira kaiao (Natural organism)
