“Te Haeata” represents the shift from Te Pō (darkness, the unknown) into Te Ao Mārama (the world of light and understanding), much like the first light of dawn breaking through the night. The koruru design, often seen at the gable of a marae, it symbolises protection, wisdom, and the guiding presence of our tīpuna. The split composition reflects the journey of creation—emerging from darkness into enlightenment, shaping both the world and our identity. The intricate patterns weave a story of whakapapa, connecting us to those who came before and the knowledge passed down through generations.
